Bold and expressive, with fat, full tanins that are at once refined, silky, and subtle. Blended from the rockiest, most well-drained parcels of the estate vineyard, this “1886” is a classic, age-worthy Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Filling out the layers of earthy complexity and spice are flavors of violets, chocolate cherries, cinnamon and cocoa.
A beautiful, 100% Cabernet Franc with great structure, firm, mature tannins, and compelling flavors. Aromas are reminiscent of a walk in the forest in Autumn, with dried brambles and dusty, stony undertones, woven into the black raspberry and red plums that we expect from an Ehlers Cabernet Franc.
Another luscious, full, and rich Merlot that illustrates the full potential of the Ehlers terroir. A complex of intense dark chocolate, red raspberry, a very subtle spearmint, and European black licorice, defines this vintage. The tannins are at once fine and chewy, and the bold, juicy structure of the wine is what has always made the Ehlers Merlot “a Merlot for Cabernet drinkers.”
A voluptuous, full-bodied, heavyweight Cabernet Sauvignon from the loamy benchland soils of our north St. Helena estate vineyard. The wine is layered with blackberry, black plums, and dark cocoa, and wrapped seamlessly in velvety tanins that create a structure and balance that is “classically Ehlers.”
From these fragile vines comes an intensely earthy and gamey expression of our Ehlers terroir as seen through the esoteric eyes of Petit Verdot. The 2010 Petit Verdot is a savage, dense, fascinating, full-bodied gem of a red wine, that satisfies like a powerful Cabernet, while sporting a completely different swagger.
This bone-dry, full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc is defined by its laser-beam acidity, and rich, floral, mouth-watering flavor. Bartlett pears, pink grapefruit, lemon and tangerine blossoms. This Sauvignon Blanc is at once rich and creamy, and crisp and dry, and made from 100% estate-grown, certified organic grapes.
Aromas of watermelon, raspberry and cotton candy mingle with orange sorbet and fresh red cherries. On the palate, the wine is crisp and dry with a bristling acidity, low alcohol and a lingering lemon-berry finish. Not red, not white, but a classic old-world rosé, ready for summertime.
