2017 J. Leducq Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: The 2017 J. Leducq is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from the most elevated block on the property. This single-block Cabernet has dark layers of red and purple color. The aromas are intense with ripe red fruit character, spice rack, forest floor, wild red and dark berries, smashed rocks, bay leaves, and black olives. It’s the pure expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon from this Estate. Subtle acidity and firm tannins, the mouthfeel is immersive and elegant. Full-bodied with ample tannins. Good to cellar for 10-15 years.
Vintage Notes: 2017 began with abundant rainfall, followed by a mild Spring resulting in extended flowering with little shatter. A Labor Day weekend heatwave kicked harvest into high gear, then cool weather allowed sugar levels to return to normal. By October 4th, all our grapes were happily fermenting in tanks, most of them already pressed and in barrels starting malolactic fermentation.
