2021 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: New to our wine portfolio, I’ve enjoyed working with this fruit. This Sauvignon Blanc is farmed in Dry Creek Valley, in a high elevation site, above the fog line, receiving full sun but cooler temperatures, allowing full ripeness but retaining aromas, flavors, and acidity. Clone Musque is a very distinctive clone. The 2021 Ehlers Estate Sauvignon Blanc Dry Creek Valley is a medium yellow wine with intense aromas of stone fruit, Meyer lemon, anise, and guava. High acidity but silky mouthfeel due to the lees aging, flavors of cherimoya, mango, and lemon zest fill the mouth with some ginger. Very long, it leaves long-lasting flavors of the fruit and some spices. This wine is very different from our Estate wine and will add a fun pairing to your table. Drinkable right now, it will age well for 3-5 more years.
Vintage: The 2021 vintage was a well-deserved easy vintage in Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. The vintage will be remembered for low yields with intense-flavored, small-sized berries and a smooth and uneventful harvest. The lack of rain during Winter and Spring put every grower to work early in the season to assure vines were receiving enough water and nutrients. We purchased the Sauvignon Blanc for this wine from Nimble Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley. This gorgeous vineyard sits above the fog line and receives excellent sun exposure. Lower temperatures during the day and warmer temperatures during the night translates into natural acidity retention in the grapes and steady ripeness. Farmed sustainably and harvested at the end of August at just 21 Brix.
