2022 Sylviane Rosé
The 2022 Ehlers Estate Sylviane Rosé is a vibrant salmon pink rosé. Intense aromas of red fruit berries like strawberries and raspberries are accompanied by aromas of daisies, wild yellow flowers, orange peel, and citrus. The wine presents a creamy texture on the palate that contrasts the freshness and bright acidity of the wine. Long evolving palate with berries, mandarin, and lactic flavors. The fruit was picked early from younger blocks to retain fresh fruit character and acidity. It was whole cluster pressed with a short maceration to extract just the right amount of color. The Rosê juice was fermented and aged in stainless steel barrels for almost six months, with weekly battonage to enhance the body.

Production Notes
The 2022 vintage was called the Tale of Two Harvest. Dry conditions through the whole growing seasen and warmer temperatures with a heat evento in July during veraison and another heat event late August. Our Estate Vineyard was meticuolously monitored by Mike Wolf’s team and winemaker, and vines canopies looked great and resilient towards warmer temperatures. Yields were on point and careful irrigation assure perfect ripeness. The hard work in the vineyards paid off and we had a magnificent harvest, with good flavor and aroma development. Our Sauvignon blanc was harvested in mid-August, while the red wine harvest started only a few weeks earlier than previous years. Block 1 was planted in 2020 and provided bountiful grapes in 2022, that retained high acidity and fresh red fruit flavors, which we use it all for our Sylviane Rose.
